Starz Academy offers developmental gymnastics classes for tots &
preschool age boys and girls. Students in the developmental classes
practice on full sized & miniature gymnastic equipment. Motor
skill toys, mats, shapes, colors, & numbers are also incorporated.
Your child will playfully learn gymnastics, motor skills, and basic
sports skills in a fun, age appropriate class that blends physical,
cognitive, and daily living skills.
Developmental gymnastic classes are designed to teach the children
to follow directions, gymnastics terminology, basic gymnastic positions,
and fundamental skills on the vault, bars, beam, floor, trampoline,
tumble trak, and air trak.
Buddie Starz
Buddie Starz Gymnastics Classes are for our youngest students ages 1 through 3. Each class will begin with a fun, group warm-up incorporating music and props. Basic stretches, positions, and skills are also practiced during group warm-up. Next the students have free time to practice on an obstacle course of scaled down equipment. Plus, they may use the full sized equipment in the big gym.
“Big People” just need to remove their shoes during class, & can wear any clothing they can move around in. (“Big people” – please don’t try to perform your own gym skills on the equipment!) Siblings or friends under the age of 18 are not allowed to come out into any of the workout areas during class. They must watch from the waiting areas for the entire class.
If a Buddie Star is crying or throwing a fit during circle time
– (warm-up or closing activities), we would appreciate if
their “big person” moved them out of the circle to prevent
the distraction of others.
Buddie Starz will be promoted to Little Starz by the age of four
at the instructor’s discretion. They must first show that
they are ready for the structure, can listen and follow instructions,
& rotate through a circuit of equipment.
Little Starz
Little Starz gymnastics classes are structured gymnastic classes for students ages 4 to 5. (Some students are promoted from the Buddie Starz class before they are 4). Each class will begin with a fun, group warm-up incorporating music and props. Basic stretches, positions, and skills are also practiced during group warm-up. Next, the students will rotate through the instructions as they practice skills on the miniature & full sized equipment. The class concludes with the “Bye-Bye Song,” and stamps are given.
 Students are promoted from the Little Starz developmental classes to the recreational level classes before they begin Kindergarten in the fall.
Little Starz are invited to perform exhibition routines at the All Starz Cartoon Classic competition held in the spring. They are all awarded a trophy.
